What is Well Made Vintage?

A identity system design for a second-hand retail business in Muncie, Indiana.

The business chosen was a sustainable second-hand clothing retail store known as Well Made Vintage which opened its doors in 2023. The establishment specializes in apparel and memorabilia from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and early 00s.

Goals:

  • Develop a theme for the small business that resonates with their company’s goal and mission

  • Use knowledge on identity system manuals to craft one showcasing that newly designed identity

  • Extend the identity beyond just the logomark and logotype and crafted a diverse range of identity elements

Challenges:

  • Developing a visual theme that welcomes new customers and traders

  • Showcasing multiple decades with various aesthetics with one identity

  • Creating an effective mascot for a newly established with no previous identities

Blast from the Past

The overall inspiration stemmed from the decades the items were made as well as imagery popular from those periods. This can be seen from the colors, pop culture, and retro aesthetic.
